new patterns!

A bunch of new patterns arrived in the mail today!
Placed an order with Vogue last week as they were having a huge sale, & they've arrived already!
Not bad seeing they only got posted on Monday (from USA)....
Now I don't know which one to sew first!
I have the lovely Kay Unger design - Vogue 1183, which will look great made up in linen...

There's aalso a few of the latest McCalls patterns 6112, 6113, 6118, 6119, 6120, 6127
As well as a few of the recent Butterick patterns 5450, 5454, 5471.

Where to begin, where to begin!
So no need to guess what I'll be getting up to this weekend!

Well here are those sewing room photos I mentioned - the room could have been bigger, that's for sure!

All my machines are Janome - I have a sewing machine, overlocker & coverstitch machine on the large desk (an old draftsman's desk my sister gave me which I refurbished), and in one corner by the window is my embroidery machine.

Under that desk is my old sewing machine, which I still use occasionally as my attachements for that machine (such as my ruffler) don't fit the new one. When I upgraded my machines a few years ago, I decided against getting the new top-of-the-range Janome in preference for separate embroidery & sewing machines. Not only was it much cheaper, but I can have the embroidery machine going & do some sewing at the same time.

In the other corner by the window is my pattern drawer - overflowing!

I picked this up at Ikea very cheaply (Aneboda $99) & its the perfect size for patterns.

I have another one to go into this room, but first I have to get some shelving up to put my overlocker threads on, as they are currently taking up the spot where that chest of drawers will go (on the other side of the sewing desk).

My manequin is called Sasha, & she is currently wearing my old wedding dress (from 1987), which I found in storage & has been pulled out to sell on Ebay (I just haven't gotten around to it yet!).

Behind the mirror doors is my fabric stash, & it is jam-packed! Sadly when I got the cupboard built I did not make it deeep enough, so consequently all my fabric stash doesn't fit into it! I still have a number of tea-chest boxes stored in the garage, until I figure out how to access & store their contents!

Hi there to anyone who may be reading this.
This is my first attempt at blogging, so please bear with me.
I always have loads of projects on my TO DO list, so will try to put a few of them up as they're done to share.

I've just discovered a great new web-site called PatternReview.com which is what prompted me to set up this blog.
I have spent hours over the last few days browsing the wonderful reviews & photos where people share what they have been sewing, and it is fantastic to see how many different ways a pattern can be made up.
No 2 creations are alike and the fabric choices alone are mind boggling! (where do they get all this lovely fabric from?!)
I've put a few of my own things up already too, so people can see what I've been sewing.
I think after only a few items people are already getting the idea that I'm a bit of a compulsive sewer!

I might  take a photo or 2 of my sewing room too - which is always in a state of chaos (I don't work well in a neat environment!).
There you will see my sewing addicition in all its glory, the fabrics bulging out of my linen cuboard, the projects cut out, ready to sew and all my wonderful machines lined up ready to help me get it all done...
That saying "She who dies with the most fabric" certainly refers to me!

So anyway, there you go, I'm a sewing addict, through & through!
